Social Clubs
Hottentots was the first social club to desegregate in 1975. They can also be considered the first social club to integrate because they continue to have 2-4 black women in their organization until they leave the campus.
The Las Amigas was the first social club that was established specifically for black women. It appears in the Meh Ladies in 1976. This organization never integrated.
The Mam'selle social club is the first four year social club to desegregate with one black woman. She was not present in any of the remaining photographs. The Mam'selles never retain a black individual for more than a year.
The Countess social club desegregated in 1979 with one international student. This student was not present in the composite photos taken after 1979.
The Reveler social club was the first four year social club to desegregate in 1979 with an international student. This student remained with the organization until her graduation.
The Rosette social club was the third four year to desegregate with two black members. The Rosette social club does not have any black members present in any photograph after 1980.
The D'Belles or Dixie Belles was the second four year social club to desegregate in 1979. They are the first social club to keep their black member until 1981. They are the second social club to have an international student in 1984.
Thee Delta Sigma Omega fraternity is the first fraternity to appear on campus, in 1986 with one black male.
